Nikola Tesla never slept for more than two hours a day. Much like Da Vinci, Tesla followed the Uberman sleep cycle and claimed to have never slept for more than two hours a day. He once reportedly worked for 84 hours straight in a lab without any rest. -

Stephen King points all of his pillows in a certain direction. “I brush my teeth, I wash my hands. Why would anybody wash their hands before they go to bed? I don’t know. And the pillows are supposed to be pointed a certain way. The open side of the pillowcase is supposed to be pointed in toward the other side of the bed. I don’t know why.” -

Tom Cruise snores so loudly that he apparently has to sleep in a soundproof snoratorium. He converted an old nursery into a soundproof space, so that he could snore in peace. “Whoever uses the snoring room cannot be heard outside the locked door. It’s very small, comfortable, and dark.” I’m sure many of you will suspect foul play is afoot, but I tend to give Tom the benefit of the doubt. -

Marissa Mayer catches up on sleep during weeklong vacations every four months. The CEO of Yahoo is a known workaholic, clocking in 130 hours per week, which obviously deprives her of valuable sleep -

In order to improve his creativity, Charles Dickens slept facing north. Dickens, who reportedly suffered from insomnia, always kept a navigation compass with him to ensure that he wrote and slept facing north. Why north? The world may never know why Charles believed in its creative-inducing powers. -

Eminem puts tinfoil on his windows to keep out the light. While most people would consider putting dark shades on their windows to keep their rooms dark, Eminem takes it to another level by wrapping tinfoil around his windows to get better-quality sleep. -

After suffering a collapse from exhaustion in 2007 that left her waking up in a pool of blood, Arianna Huffington turned her bedroom into a “slumber palace,” complete with a canopied bed and blackout curtains. Before bed, she turns off her phone and plugs all her electronics in to charge overnight — outside the bedroom. She then takes a hot bath, filled with Epsom salt and lavender oil, to calm her mind and help her forget the stresses of the day. -

Every four hours, Leonardo Da Vinci was known to take 20 minute naps. He was very adamant about his polyphasic sleep schedule, called the Uberman sleep cycle, which consists of 20-minute naps every four hours. -

In order to ‘sing the way she wants to’, Mariah Carey surrounds her bed with up to 20 humidifiers and sleeps for around 15 hours. Apparently, it’s like sleeping in a steam room, and it soothes her throat. -

The former president Lyndon B. Johnson split his day into two parts to get more done. He usually woke up at about 6:30 or 7 a.m. and worked until 2 p.m. After a quick bout of exercise, Johnson would crawl back into bed for a 30-minute nap, getting up around 4 p.m. and working into the early morning. -

Martha Stewart only sleeps around 4 hours a night. She gets up hours before her crew even arrives at work at 6:30 A.M. to cook breakfast for a host of pets — including horses, donkeys, and more than 200 chickens. -
